Thing to also remember is that if it's intended for the web, a smaller websized version won't show any noise. If it's in print the noise doesn't show anywhere near as much either. As David says, try shooting some film, some velvia 50 and see what the noise is like in that.

Nearly all my portraits are using natural light. Because I work with actors and actresses some of their best shots are reactionary and only present themselves for a limited period of time. That's why 5fps beats 1fps in this respect.

I've considered Hassy for my portrait work but being able to shoot only 1 shot per second or longer isn't all that helpful to me when I need to fire off multiple shots quickly to capture an developing expression. I'd love the sharpness / detail of the Hassy though.
