A wet, dark rainy, day with a long slow telephoto lens and an old 2014 Sony a7Rii to hand.
I grabbed this shot of a Dalmatian Pelican, mid-groom, appearing to give me the evil eye lol.
Feedback and suggestions welcomed please! Image is straight from the sdcard. This is a jpeg photo as opposed...
Light... I couldn't do anything about.. I was stuck with that and adjusted as much as I dared with my limited experience. Distance.. I'd usually shoot this no issues at 600mm at f6.3 and it would be spot on sorta lol although not as close obviously
Ironically... the green square was directly on the eye... I was shooting expanding flexible spot.
The 200-600mm lens is a 5.6-6.3 on its own.. so with the tele on ... I was stuck at f13 as a result.
As it was woodland area I left iso to auto.
The shutter speed I had to lower to let in more light...
Put the 2x teleconverter onto my Sony 200-600mm lens today for some photo work and put the a7Rii to the test to see what this old 2014 full framer could do maxed out!
I did like this photo but i am not sure on how to get around the softness... is it the camera's age and limited focusing ability...

Poor camera really struggled with focusing and I really had to work for this!
I have done nothing post capture to this photo on...
Willow Bracket (Phellinus igniarius) as shot from my old Sony a7Rii and Sony FE 200-600mm f5.6-6.3 G OSS Lens in Uncompressed Raw.
Cropped and converted to jpg in adobe photoshop elements
I think I have done better with this shot with framing now i have had some good feedback from some awesome...
Further to previous assistance on framing photos and getting closer to the subject, I was back out over the weekend with the a7Rii to see what i could find and spotted this Great Spotted Woodpecker and tried my hand at a better framed photo.. Hopefully getting there now!
Sony a7R ii + Sony FE...
this is what i have been reduced to shooting .. conditions wise! so zero movement closer!

Had no chance with this one to get closer as had a hard hide stopping me!! So it was a cut out in a wood panelled hide fenced I woodland each side so had to make do with what was given. Appreciate the feedback and tips and will give me something to work on!
It's a love/hate i know :ROFLMAO:
I've just re-framed it and graded slightly...! Hope this is better now :)

I had ISO too high on the original and could see the grain ... so i used the creases to hide the mess up if that makes sense! This is still very very new to me, photography and maybe i am trying too hard to be spot on !
