Whilst I'm fully clued up on taking my camera and it's battery through check in (as hand luggage).
I'm not sure what the rules are regarding the flash.
Do I put the batteries in it just in case they ask me to switch it on to show that it works? or not?

I was told by a dealer, the reason why people do this is if they have leased a car and then after the 2/3 years it comes back with dents and scratches, they get penalized for it and therefore reduces the trade in value.
As for the rot box in the picture....why bother!!
I currently use this monopod with my 5d3 and a sigma 150-600 C and would strongly recommend it.
Very light and stable especially with the feet on.
I would also recommend buying one of these as it will take the strain off your shoulder...
