Hi Louise and welcome, can I recommend you might want to take a trip to Skears Photographic along Wellingborough Road in Northampton. They are a great independent camera shop and i'm sure they will be able to give you loads of help and advice on suitable camera's.
Ginger I did have the 24-70 but much prefer the 17-55, being a bit wider its great for groups
I also find this camera holds high ISO very well and sometimes use 4000
The lens' I use are as follows
Love my 17-55 2.8 and used for most of the time
also have the 70-200 2.8 which I use sometimes as with my 50mm 1.8.
These are all I find I need and hope this helps Ginger.
For anyone with the D7000 you might like to take a look at the website my friend Martin has put together. Its filled with some great help and loads of useful information. http://www.everythingd7000.co.uk/
I have had the 900 since it was launched and was having the same problem with the cut out. was advised by shop via Nikon to turn overheat protection off, did this and not had any problems since.
I always have to go and find the debit card lol. I too have my online sales go into my paypal account so would just make it easier instead of having to withdraw them first.
Thumbs up from me too, been using them for a couple of years now and can't fault the quality or service.
Icing on the cake would be if they took Paypal
I ordered from them day before christmas eve and parcel arrived day after boxing day. Great service. I found them very helpful on the phone too. Maybe just give them a call and im sure they will sort things out for you.
Lets pray for a safer world this coming year so all our troops can come home. Sending my thanks to all our boys and girls serving our country.
I feel very fortunate that my son is home with us this christmas after just finishing his latest tour of duty.
Keep safe all of you and merry...
