I think the portrait and the background are fantastic and work really well together..
However... I do think the lightning is too much and doesn't need it at all !?..
Was it the Alienskin Xenofex plugin ?
Then again.. What do I know
I just think it would be awesome without the...
Hi Guys...
Just a few from the WWII reenactment at Lytham yesterday..
Thanks for looking..
C&C welcome..
1. Germain Soldier
2. Battle Scene (crop 1.... Can't decide on this and the next)..
3. Battle scene V2
4. British Boys
BTW.. The path to the right is public.. And not part of the private land.. So in answer to your question... No.. Security do not bother you from the side this shot was taken :)
Thank you for the kind comments :)
There was security on site.. But to be honest.. He was quite helpful !?... As you walk to the ship from the road.. You have a choice of two paths either side of a bridge over a little ?? Estuary !? Like a little canal fed from the sea.. Anyway.. I chose the path to the right which landed me on...
I did several close shots of the Gormleys.. But they have been done so many times they are not worth shooting in my opinion.. The idea of this was a sunset landscape.. And while the figures are visible and give scale.. Rightly or wrongly.. I didn't want them as the main image !?.. :)
Tone mapping is the process used by Photomatix etc to create a HDR image from one shot.. True HDR is created from several bracketed images (I shoot 9 frames -4 to +4).. Or at least.. That's how I understand it !?.,
I agree with the above...
No1 is great processing and a super striking image...
No2 may have been over processed on the ground.. And I sold a 14-24 as I soon grew out of love with leaning buildings :(
I just swapped my 50mm 1.4 for a 24-70 2.8....
The 50mm was rubbish at 1.4 and needed to be at least 1.8 to be any good...
Regarding focusing.. I found it very hit and miss... BUT.. at large apertures the DOF is so shallow that it could literally be breathing that fluffs it !?..
24-70...
Here are a couple of my first sunset attempts from Crosby Beach near Liverpool...
Only problem is that it went overcast before the actual sunset.. so this is the nest I could manage...
Thanks for looking.. C&C Welcome...
I always shoot RAW... I'm not sure that's essential for HDR.. I'm sure you could get the same results with bracketed jpegs.. But for tone mapping from a single image.. I'm sure the extra information in RAW files would be a bonus !?..
Thanks for all the comments guys.. Greatly appreciated. :)
I used Photomatix pro on this one.. One handheld shot and then tone mapped... Then some dodging and burning :)
