I've got a bootable back up and Time Machine. I know it shouldn't go wrong and never has in the past but recent experience showed me different, and this is a biggish jump, hence my nervousness.
For a long time I've been planning to upgrade the OS on my Mac. I'm currently using Mojave and can move to Ventura which is four steps I think. I've stuck with Mojave because it lets me use PS CS6. I'll lose a lot of stuff with an upgrade but I reckon I've found ways of dealing with it, mostly...
I'm thinking of going with Affinity but can't use V2 with my current operating system. I'm planning to upgrade my OS in the next month or so, does anybody know if I buy V2 now and don't download it if I will be able to do so when I upgrade?
I’m going to have to upgrade my software as I really need to update the Mac. I’ve stuck with the old OS because PS CS6 does all I need although I do like to do the initial RAW stuff in Photolab which will also stop working. I’ve toyed with the idea of updating the DXO and using Elements as the...
I still use it, quite happily, but it means I can’t upgrade my Mac OS so eventually it will have to be replaced. I got it as a £200 upgrade. The other thing I will lose when I upgrade is Dreamweaver. Photoshop can be had at a reasonable price but Dreamweaver not a chance. Upgrading the Mac means...
I had the reverse experience. A letter from HMRC saying they owed me the money back that I’d had to pay them the year before. I could wait two months and get a cheque or go online and get it today. I duly went online where they asked for enough information to take over my whole identity so I...
I used to have shoulder length hair in the 60s and early 70s so I guess I’ll just have to relive my youth and let my “freak flag fly” (nod to Dave Crosby). It did look pretty terrible then though.
The downloads are a bit hit and miss, I managed one after three goes and am on my sixth attempt at the second. I can’t say the the Adobe offer is too tempting, I’m thinking of trying Amazon, even though I avoid them as much as possible. I. don’t need anything fancy and they do,at least, let you...
You’re going to have the phone with you anyway so try out the camera in the next few weeks and see how you get on. You could also try taking some shots with your phone in similar conditions to those you expect and see how you like them, sunsets may be close, never seen the northern lights so I’m...
Sorry, I just checked, it’s an LG, looks just like an old Samsung I once used. This is it on Amazon

The Samsung one works well enough. It’s very light and plasticky but I would think all of them will be, except maybe the Apple one, but that doesn’t have a great reputation and is expensive. I’ve only used it to copy CDs so can’t say about burning discs.
It certainly doesn’t look as if it’s worth the upgrade price they’re asking. I’m waiting to be convinced or for them to make me a better offer around Christmas. If you are on a pre Photolab version then it is.
