    "Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

Just a head's up - hope it's OK to do this - I just posted an ad for my "like new" GH3 - I am selling as I am leaving m 4/3 for DSLR land. Please take a look at the entry in the classifieds section. I would accept £800 or there abouts and the camera can be viewed and demoed if you can get to...

    "Panasonic G series" Owners Thread

Anyone bought a 12-35 f2.8 and seriously compared the IQ to their 14-45. I am tempted by the gains of a fixed aperture and sharp centre even wide open, as well as an extra 2mm at the wide end, but my 14-45 is bitingly sharp by f5.6 and I am concerned that I might lay out a lot of money for a...

    Fuji x100

How are LR and ACR at working with x100 raws? I know the JPEGs are wonderful - how do the raws look when imported into LR? Is that wonderful fuji color present in the JPEGs there in the raws when imported or do you need to adjust sliders to bring it back? Thanks !

Anyone got a GH3 yet? Am wondering if it is worth the upgrade for stills shooters or whether it is mainly a camera for video shooters and doesn't offer a lot over the G5 for stills shooters?

I would be interested to know how you think that lens compares to the old Pannie 14-45 in terms of IQ?

GX1 is excellent - great build quality, nice ergonomics. Processing seems a bit better than in the G3 - better color (more neutral) for JPEG and raw and slightly better noise performance. Noise performance is also a bit better than the GH2 but worse than the OM-D. The add-on EVF is superb...

I haven't shot side-by-sides yet, but over the next few days I will ! p.s. - I am not exporting JPEGs from Silkypix - I am exporting TIFFs, so there is no JPEG compression going on

Well the handling is improved - G5 is bigger, has that front control toggle and a much better LCD. It's just IQ that doesn't (IMHO) seem better than G3, and is possibly worse at high ISO...

I haven't done any scientific a versus b testing (yet) so for now I have just shot G5 raw and processed using Silkypix with all NR and sharpening off, before pulling the TIFF into CS5 for Topaz DeNoise. So it's just a subjective assessment of the G5 high ISO raws versus those from the G3 and GX1...

Note to anyone thinking of getting G5 as soon as it hits shelves - think carefully ! I have had mine for 5 days or so now, and I'm in two minds about it. I sold off my G3 to part fund the purchase, and have kept my GH1, GX1 and E-P2. I prefer the 12MP sensor at low ISO - OK itlacks a bit of DR...
