Yeah, think I might hold out for a 18-135 on the refurb store. didn't think of the lack of WR on the 55, and looking at my day out, i did shoot around 70mm quite a bit.

The Fabulous Fuji X owners thread

Just moved from a sony A7 to Fuji X-Pro2 and very happy with the shift. I borrowed a 18-135 from a friend and it's a lovely lens, but quite big and heavy. The reviews of the kit lens all seem great (kit lenses have come a long way from my canon 20D), so I'm tempted as a more compact option than...

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

In good condition? Most I see around that money have damaged mirror edges. The A7ii looks very tempting, but I think the LA-EA4 will probably suit me better, I think even with the A7ii the LA-EA4 would be the way to go, the Canon convertor looks clunky.

Now I've had a scratch round the only ef Canon glass I have left is the 85mm F1.8, so that is not actually a big deal Guess I'd get 300-350 for my a7 body, less £220 I'd pay for the LA-EA4, are a7ii bodies available around £600? If not a new LA-EA4 and S/H SAL70300 should do what I want for...

Thanks for the indepth review. I'm not really looking to upgrade the body if I can help it, frankly it's a good sensor and a flexible mount, it's not the weak link here. I see my current options as: SEL24250 (and lose the kit lens and Canon 200mm) SAL70300 and LA-EA4 (later hunt a cheap minolta...

So nandbytes I'm guessing you have been here, so maybe in a position to answer. What does the LA-EA4 give me over the LA-EA3? Use of screwdrive minolta lenses and none SSM older Sony A mount I lose 1/3 stop of light My wallet is lighter Is there any other technical reason on the old A7 to go...

Bummer, yes I have an original A7. Which of the AF adapters do work then :-(.

The sigma mc-11 looks worth a punt. With the bonus that I have an 85mm F1.8ef mount somewhere. And the Canon 70-200mm f4 should sort me for a longer lens. Thanks.

The Amazing Sony A1/A7/A9/APS-C & Anything else welcome Mega Thread!

Anyone care to recommend longer lenses for an A7? I currently shoot the kit lens, or converted primes (Contax 35mm f2 planar, Canon 50mm F1.2 rf, voigtlander 15mm rf). I bought a Canon fd 200mm f2.8 but find the shallow dof hard to focus, especially for motorsports stuff. So I'm looking for an...

Cleaning the rear element of a lens

I clean lenses for our laser and occasionally cinema stuff at work (Very expensive lenses, I could but the whole canon L catalogue and have change for the bus home for some of our pieces of glass!) I use very pure iso-propanol and some 'optical wipes' which are basically a thin soft lint free...

    Stupid stupid idiot

Just testing the water with a pinhole photography project I'm doing with some students next month: I've got my 4x5" Ilford direct positive paper made my pinhole camera (kelly's icecream tub and 0.3mm 'pinhole' drilled in copper shim) loaded it and tried a 6 minute exposure as suggested in the...

Large Format photography group - From "zero to hero!"

FWIW I made black ABS plastic lens boards for my crown graphic, they seemed pretty light tight. If you want Acrylic cut accurately I have access to a laser for such purpose! if your worried about light tightness I'd just try a heavy coat of matt black acrylic paint over the back of it.

    Favourite film?

For B&W I'm using Kodak Double-XX (Eastman 5222) its a motion picture film (start of the most recent Casino Royale was shot on it). I bought a 400' roll, so I have a lot to get through, but I like it, the quality is good and its cheap. D76 works well as a developer, may try some others with it...
