    Faded colours

Spence, it's because the image is in AdobeRGB - you need to switch to sRGB and the problem will go away.

Simplest way to add a password to a website?

You can put it in the site's root as long as it's got the right permissions.

    "Reach" 1D3 vs 30D vs 40D vs 50D

Hmm, not sure about the maths there. mk3 image width = 3888 50D image width = 4752 4752/3888 = 1.2222 If the image was composed the same then the 50D would have 1715 * 1.2222 = 2096 pixels for the print, about 7" @ 300dpi If you include the crop factor then you can multiply by...

    "Reach" 1D3 vs 30D vs 40D vs 50D

Is pixel peeping the best way to compare? What about 10x8 prints from each - I suspect that would level the field out a bit, including the exaggerated noise issues of the 50D  edit to add: by exaggerated noise issues I mean that the problem is exaggerated not the noise ;)

    Belle Vue speedway question

Best chance of shots outside the track are at the start assuming you can get a view, otherwise you really want to be in the centre.

    Capturing Rain

Easy then, find your location, get a big spotlight, wait for rain at night, shoot. Job done  Seriously I think the shutter speed will be shorter than you think, the reason why I posted my example. Rain falls pretty quickly and longer exposures will tend to soften the results into more of a...

    Capturing Rain

Is this the kind of thing you're after? www.pxl8.co.uk/SPP_6274.jpg (note 1920px wide 800kb) I shot this with at 1/125s @ f.28 so and focused close to the background was blurred and the rain drops stood out against it.

    Screen to print match........

Photocal? Is this the profile you created for your monitor? The monitor and printer should NOT be using the same profile, that will lead to poor results. Printing straight from Windows only confuses things as it depends on which version as to how (if at all) it will colour manage printing...

    Screen to print match........

What monitor are you using? What working colour space for the image? Are you using the screen profile for printing? Proof the image in CS3 by going to View > Proof > Custom and selecting the profile for your printer, also tick to simulate paper colour. Now you can toggle the proof with ctrl-y...

    Colour Space

If you're shooting raw then it doesn't matter what you set the camera to, it's the raw processing app that will set the working colour space. The standard advice is stick to sRGB. You'll often hear that AdobeRGB gives you more colours and more is better obviously but it's not that simple. You...

    Screen to print match........

How are they not matching? Colour? Brightness? or ?? Are you using the right profiles for your printer and paper? What app are you printing from and with what settings? Have you proofed the image to check the printer can handle the colours? Sorry, I've answered your question with several more ;)

    Converting to Laptop from Desktop

True, some high spec laptops even come with a built-in calibration device but as the OP already mentioned a dell studio it's a bit pointless....

    Converting to Laptop from Desktop

Laptop screens just don't have the tonal bandwidth, have a fixed colour temp of around 9300k and no amount of calibration will sort that out. Of course it also depends on what you're editing and how accurate you need to be.

    Image quality loss...Help needed desperately!!

DPI won't affect the quality as it simply defines the physical size of the image when printed on paper, see this recent thread: http://www.talkphotography.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=156957 I think the step you're missing is sharpening after re-sizing the image for web. When an image is...

    Image quality loss...Help needed desperately!!

Ok, the robin on your site: http://www.mattfidlerphotography.co.uk/html/wildlife_images_13.html and on birdguide http://www.birdguides.com/iris/pictures.asp?rty=0&r=1&contid=77036&off=215585&v=0 which has been shrunk to 295px from around 700px so it's no wonder that it seems sharper. Also...
