Sigma 30mm DC f/1.4 HSM ART £224 after cashback

Was just about to post this deal but you've beaten me to it. Can't comment on the lens but gets good reviews. I'm very tempted but not really convinced I can justify it, bought myself a few too many presents recently!

Having seen lots of your photos gramps I can confidently say that that statement's normally 99.9% the other way around! But thank you very much for the kind words!

Thanks Tim I'll keep trying. I'll have another fiddle with sharpening but I think there's a bit of camera shake which isn't helping. In hindsight burst mode would have been a good idea

    Beginner Bittern

Hi All, Despite admiring all of your work for years I've never got around to posting a photo of my own, so here goes! Taken on a recent first ever visit to Norfolk, with 7D and Sigma 150-500. Only time I've ever seen a Bittern, he didn't hang around and I only managed 3 shots. Fantastic noise...

    Red squirrel

Ok thanks for the info, hopefully get to go again this year. Was a great place to visit and not sure there's anywhere else down here to see red squirrels

    Red squirrel

Very good pic, to get this close did you tempt them out with nuts or was he just not bothered? I've only been once and saw 11 squirrels or so but they all stayed well away!

Hiring a lens for Le Mans 2014

I've been twice and looking back it probably wasn't worth taking the camera, but it's still good practice. Monopod might be good if you'll be standing on a bank for a few hrs Anyone managed to sneak through to mulsanne straight etc? We got quite far once but then got caught. I've heard there...

    I hate SSDs!!

I love mine, bought a refurb from crucial ages ago with only 1 months warranty, been fine ever since and makes an average PC so responsive. Sounds like you know your stuff so assume you're following the online guides WRT what to turn off to make them last, either way 5 days is no good. Third...

Is this flash a good flash and a good deal?

It looks like a pretty good deal if you're after this flash, but not astounding. It does ETTL for canon and has some level of manual control which is good, but the flash power could be a bit higher. I think the Yongnuo from ebay/amazon is excellent value but that doesn't do ETTL. Digital SLR...

    Windows phone 8 vs android.

Another fan of WP here too, just easy to use and does what you want. Also find it works so well with windows pc's, has office built in etc. The Nokia satnav is also excellent considering the price (free). I currently use a Lumia 710 but looking to upgrade to a 820/920 when I see a good deal

    Help choosing Lens for DSLR

That's a good price for the Canon, but if you wait there's a good chance the price will go back up £20 or so. Personally I'd choose the Canon as it gets a good write up on Ken Rockwell's site, but I don't know anything about the Tamron.

    2x teleconverters

From my little technical knowledge I understand this is because the camera receives too little light and therefore contrast to be able to decide where to focus. Your focus works at f/36 because the lens is wide open at the time it focuses - the lens only stops down to f/36 when the shutter...

    Canon 7D & 15-85mm @Argos £1033

I had confirmation it had been approved on the 15th Dec, waiting for BACS payment now. Sounds odd you had to supply a photo of the lens, guess it's a spot check thing.
