    Nikon D5200 or the D7000

Another vote for the D7000, great camera with in body motor.

Recommend me an inexpensive padded strap?

Another Optech user here. Have the sling and wrist strap so can change between the two.

I want some new lenses - Nikon 70-300 and Tokina 11-16

I was looking for a 70-300 lens to replace the Sigma 70-300 macro that I had. After reading reviews and asking questions on here I settled for the Tamron 70-300 VC which I must say is a brilliant lens. A lot of people say that the VC is better than Nikons VR! Picked up mine in the classifieds on...

    Recommend me a bag.

One of the smaller Crumpler bags would be ideal.

    Bags for small cameras

Some of the Crumpler bags are quite small. I have a Pretty Boy 3000 which is quite small. Picked mine up used on the bay for not a lot of money.

    The Official Fuji X10/X20/X30/XF1/XQ1 Thread

I think the main one to fail is the XF1 with it's 'lens control' error! Mine failed within a year and was fixed by Fuji at no cost luckily. Not used it for a while as I tend to use the D7100 but it's very handy to stick in a pocket when going out.

Beginner Can you recommend me beginners image editing software?

I think you can get Nikon View NX2 for free via download http://imaging.nikon.com/lineup/software/viewnx2/ and this allows you to transfer and make adjustments to pictures. Another free one that I have used is Gimp.

    Sigma 70-300 ?

I have the Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG Macro and also the NIKON 55-200. i find that the Nikon is the sharper of the 2 but you don't get the reach of the Sigma. I would say that the Nikon is faster to focus as well and the Sigma is a bit noisy!

My sigma is the DG APO Macro. Think they are about £90 new? It's a bit sharper after f8 but that's not much use on the dull days we're getting at the moment.

I assume the tamron is better than the Nikon 70-300 VR then? Got the Sigma at the moment but it's very poor optically.........but it only cost £45 !!!
