    Too many Photographers

Just been reading this thread and interned to see how long it’s been active. Also interesting to read people’s comments on agencies and their “deals” with the nationals. Nothing seemed to have changed since I dropped out of the circus. Never had my own licence but have worked for a number of...

    Which 2nd body?

Personally for sports I’ve always gone for the 1D series mainly for their build quality, built in grip, weatherproofing and sensor size (1.3).I’ve had two in the past and never let me down. In fact I’ve just replaced my 2nd/back up body this week so if the 1DMK4 is your choice it’s now listed...

    An Unsatisfied Non-Customer

Obviously only referring to smaller agencies with no contracts. Two of the three I worked for both offered the odd free image if asked. Action Images have/had such club contracts to name just one.

    An Unsatisfied Non-Customer

No they dont and generally clubs have their own photographer which usually covers all their needs but in odd occasions an agency may have something they want and as a gesture they dont charge. Obviously the reasoning behind this is they will always look favourable when applying for passes or if...

    An Unsatisfied Non-Customer

From What I remember most if not all the agencies give clubs images foc just as an act of good will and probably to ensure they get a pass for future games.

    A Lesson in Sports Photography

I've seen many "out of the box" shots by sports photographers but you hardly ever see them in print unfortunately.

Using high ISO - Workflow and tips please

I remember shooting under floodlights at 250th as I had no choice. You say your still learning then thats good but you need to learn to shoot at the lowest ISO you can while achieving sharpest images. I'm assuming the newspapers will be you targeted customers if shooting football and sometimes...

Using high ISO - Workflow and tips please

In the days of a 1Dmk2 newspapers expected and got dark images. These days cameras handle poor lighting so much better but its still the image that counts regardless of quality. And yes I've always thought they look better in print and from such a low res file!

Using high ISO - Workflow and tips please

Jesus what a post! A sports shooter that cant shoot at 640th sec, Using noise reduction software at night games for press. Not that long ago you'd be well f@&$k! Drop your ISO and use a lower shutter and fill the frame as suggested and if your not getting sharp images theres either something...

    Canon 1D mkIV shutter replacement

One of mine has over 300k and still feels like new. I think last time I enquired it was about £250 but that was a couple of years ago.

    Sigma 300mm 2.8 or 120-300mm 2.8?

The 120-300 sport is a fantastic lens at a fantastic price compared with the Canon primes. More versatile too. I bought one last year and consider it my best purchase but its as as good with the body attached to it.
