I just took delivery of the somewhat cheap & cheerful offering from Hersmay (and other names you've never heard of) - the "Vertical Power Battery Grip for Canon EOS R8".
First impressions:
It has tool-less fitting, i.e. it attaches into the tripod screw hole on the bottom of the camera.
It...
As Steve says, a PC sync lead won't do the job - the only ways to get full TTL control over your remote flash are wirelessly, via the "ugly" cable (e.g. OC-E3) or by using a second flash (or speedlight controller) on the top of the 5D3 (which is really no less cumbersome than the pair of...
That's interesting - I obviously have an earlier 60cm, as it the classic four panel design. The design of yours sounds much like the Mk II 90 cm square, so perhaps it's a good basic design that doesn't scale up very well!
Yeah, I have the 80cm Octa and the 60cm square and they're awesome - the Mk II 90cm square is a different design in that it only has two "spung" panels, not four, and this is where the problem lies. I wish I'd never sold my Mk I 90cm square now!
I've got one of these and whilst it is super-quick to assemble it really does droop alarmingly when attached to my studio lights - I was wondering if anyone else has one and could comment on how they find it?

I love my Lastolite Ezybox II Octa - with the Ezybox II speedlight bracket I can mount a pair of hotshoe flashes, or with Exybox II Speedring Plate I can use it on my studio strobes. As someone on the thread has already said, a good "notched" tilthead (e.g. LA2401) is essential for the hotshoe...
My studio strobes (Calumet AS250 monolights) do have LED modelling lamps... but they are a little feeble, and annoyingly don't have a "proportional" mode (just "on" or "off"). So far from perfect, but I can confirm that such things do exist!
Another way around the OP's issue would be to use...
I use these to trigger my studio lights all the time -- and they frequently prove more reliable than much more expensive ones in my experience! Sadly I have no spare cables - the last time I was able to buy one it came from Germany if I remember correctly and cost more than the trigger itself...
5. I love my Lastolite Ezybox II Octa 80cm softbox. Works nicely on studio heads or with the Lastolite Ezybox II Speedlite Bracket (LS2701) you can fire two speedlites into it. Great outdoors and in the studio.
I personally like the Mk I because of the way the zoom works "backwards" (i.e. front element goes out for wide angle and in for telephoto) which means you can have a useful lens hood. The Mk II doesn't do that. As for sharpness, I can't imagine a Mk II being any sharper than the particular copy...
You're welcome Steve. Light stands always seem to have a screw thread on the top. I guess you could use it to mount a cold shoe directly, but even in this situtation you really want an angle bracket to let you point the flash all the way up/down, in which case you end up using the stud not the...
Hi Steve, I have some brackets similar to this - they're quite cheap and cheerful but have served me well for quite a time.
I'm a bit confused by "my light stand screws into the bottom of the silver area". I'd expect you to be putting the 5/8" stud of the light stand into the hole that you're...
