    Leveson Inquiry

I guess some people seek attention by writing blogs to share information with like-minded people, while others just troll forums. Zzzzzz... ;)

    Leveson Inquiry

I guess you're unaware of the privacy laws in places such as Hungary and Paris that mean that you have to have consent from everyone that you take a picture of then? You don't have to be a pap to be affected by that kind of ruling. There's been no official mention of that kind of new law but...

    SLR in extremely cold weather

As has been pointed out already, the issues that you'll face are very fast battery drain and frozen moisture on lens elements and on internal mirrors. The battery issue is resolved by carrying lots of spares and keeping the fully charged ones in the warmest place you can. It might not sound...

    Think tank

Yup, Thinktank rocks. I have the Shapeshifter and modular belt packs. The SS is the best press photographer's bag I think that anyone's come up with yet. So well planned out with all the right pockets and zips.

    Leveson Inquiry

haha! I'd be struggling if the 30 or so views I've had through the forum was a highlight! :) I just figured photographers may be interested in knowing about something that has the potential to affect how they can work. Thankfully, most have been.

Crikey. I'm very much hoping that's not what you were meaning to say Phil V. PS Cheers Byker28i! :)

    Leveson Inquiry

Hi all, Just wanted to share a link on the public's perception of photographers in the wake of the hacking scandal and ongoing Leveson Inquiry. A friend wrote an "open letter" from a photographer's point of view and I had to get it on my site so people can read it...

Are stills extracted from video the future?

Haha! I can never call it the real name after hearing that title. There are some other belters out there but I won't go into that as this is a photography forum! :)

Are stills extracted from video the future?

PS itsdavedotnet's comment on the previous page about the wedding is a prime example of my point; two people stood nice and still filled a gap temporarily until our pictures dropped through onto the wire. Currently an emergency stop-gap until the real stuff arrives... ;)

Are stills extracted from video the future?

The problem is that until D-SLRs or video cameras all shoot at 1000fps and above as standard, the only stills worth using are going to be nice stationary objects. Currently most people shoot at around 50th/sec to get smooth video. Shoot faster and you get the "hyper-real" effect of the beach...

    Black Rapid / Alternates

I'm in the process of testing their RS-DR2 and RS Sport models at the moment. Both have pros and cons so far. The single is great but only if you're using one body. If you try to combine it with a regular strap on the other body, you have three choices. These are left shoulder so the...

    tripod/monopod crossbar

Cheers bud! I've been a lurker on here for a while but thanks for the welcome (and the "readership"! :)

    tripod/monopod crossbar

Yeah, I worked closely with the people at 3leggedthing to create the "Behemoth" for the big day. It wasn't something that they planned on producing but were providing to me as one of their 3LT pros. Just for the record, as you can see from the shot linked below, it held a 600mm f4, a D3s, a...

    Lord Johnson going to prison

Always good to see "the knowledge" get quoted! Cheers! Unfortunately, the settings I quoted there are for a regular car shot. A prison van shot is MUCH harder. General rule of thumb is 1600ISO, full power flash, lens flat to the glass, pre-focused to about 1m on 250th@f5.6. Hope that...
