    Manchester today

The full Photoshop software can be a bit daunting at first although once you get the hang of it you find there are very few tools you actually need to use/master. Also if you use it for RAW, the raw editor is very simple to work with. As well as the books you should check out the Adobe...

    Manchester today

I really like the first shot, that building has never looked so good :-) I would probably clone out the 3 lights on the second floor up as they seem to stand out compared to the general tone of the image.

    N Gauge

This looks good, what lighting did you use? I can't see anything wrong with the background either, unless you have edited it now?

    Wire Wool - First go

These look really good, I actually think the colour works. To do this are you just literally setting fire to wire wool and spinning it on a string? Looks like fun :-)

The SELECTIVE COLOUR (oh no!) thread

Just had a try at this, used an image a took a while ago but done the editing just now: Butterfly Selective Colour by XD2net, on Flickr

    Photo Editing Software

I would guess it will come with software, maybe you can even get the software from the Canon website to start playing about with. Past that I would seriously consider lightroom, just had a quick look at it after posting and it seems a lot of software for the money and very easy to use. :)

    Photo Editing Software

I personally have Photoshop but it is far from cheap even with the new pay monthly option. There is a program called GIMP which is absolutely free and is very feature packed but also probably quite complicated if you don't really use that sort of software. I suppose it depends what you want to...

    Don't just love it when.

I see what you are saying but I am not sure how you missed the plane being in the way of the people :)

    Birmingham skyline at dusk...

I prefer the buildings and lights in the first image, although the sky seems a lot more crisp and clear in the second, the sky in the first looks a little grainy. I would say it would be good to see the second one took again in the same light levels as the first. Would also be good to hear why...

    Playing with exposure

Thank you, I did want the tracks the amount depended on the length of the exposure as the longer it was the more times it span around the subject. I didn't know if this was classed as plants or creative so I posted it here, maybe it will get moved if I was wrong. Thanks for your comments though.

Perfect exposure for the entire image?

Thanks for clearing that up, being honest I haven't tried much HDR, I did a few with shots where I was just trying to darken or lighten small sections, but as you point out there wasn't that much in it to start. I can see how a bright day could really make this a problem.

Perfect exposure for the entire image?

For the HDR method, instead of taking a number of images can this be done with one RAW image and then adjusted on the computer to produce the required range, for each part of the picture. This may even be the only option if you didn't have a flash OR a tripod. Just thinking out-loud.

    monitor calibration ????

Your problem will be down to calibration, as said above your brightness is probably too high, although one thing you should consider is that a laptop screen naturally shows differences in colour depending on the viewing angle. I am not sure how well colour calibration would work for this. In...

Any website builders more flexible than Zenfolio?

I understand, this was all I could find that would possibly help, unfortunately we only do custom stuff so I have no experience with anything similar. I know wordpress could be made to do it and has plugins for most of the features and endless themes/templates, but would probably lack the built...

Any website builders more flexible than Zenfolio?

I have no direct experience with Zenfolio (sorry) but looking at the site they seem to have quite an array of designs, do they not allowed any template edits to the code which would give you more freedom? I know some systems would allow you to amend code and css to change the look of the site...
