Many thanks for all of the replies.
There is plenty of information that has given me food for thought.
I will look at all the suggested choices and let you all know how I get on.
Thanks
Hi,
My wife would like a `Pocket Camera` for Christmas.
I think thats what they are called? You know the small compact ones that fit in your pocket or in her case bag.
What one would you advise on buying?
It needs to be something simple but with good quality pictures...
When we were their the prices were quite good and the American market had some good reductions.
I would see what you need and then look for any discounts.
I spent a fair bit of money but it was worth it.
Cheers
Hi,
I was there in December and one place to visit was the B+H Photography store on 9th Av and 34th Street. This place was huge!!!!!!!!!
Also the Empire State building is well worth a visit but buy your tickets on line and it save hours of waiting as they act as a priority ticket...
The Expedition 8 is a great bag. It holds all my kit well and I carry it as hand luggage when we go overseas.
It is a big bag which sits nice on my back but I would not like to think I was a smaller person using this all day.
I have used it in the Swiss Alps and it was faultless.
Regards
How about a Canon 400mm (5.6) prime lens. ;)
I have one and love it!
The price new is around £800 if you shop around or £650 ish 2nd hand.
Hope this helps.
It is said that `non IS` lens gives sharper pictures than the `IS` due to the extra elements in the `IS` lens.
I am sure someone will let us know if this is the case.
Cheers
Hi,
I have just looked at your camera bag in your profile and to be honest you need better lenses not a new body.
Try to decided what you want to shoot and then buy the correct lens for the job.
All the best.
Lens can be calibrated.
It is free under warranty and takes 7-10 days.
Could be worth getting camera and lens done together then you know they are going to be matched exact.
As for the seller.........did the lens work fine on their camera?............. Did it get knocked in...
If the USM has died then the cost to repair is going to be around the same as a new lens.
£100+ to repair
£125 ish for a replacement lens.
Where did you get it from?
If off Ebay then they can sort it out for you.
Even better if you paid with Pay Pal.
Cheers
