Greater than Gatsby - Processed Portraits

I downloaded the free actions & spoilt for choice - too many choices doing my head in

Seriously you always post excellent work & sorry but I can't find anything to say other than they are a pleasure to look at (y)

Saw these on your Flickr, the baby ones are perfect mate you have done the lighting to perfection IMHO. Not overly keen on pose in the first one but lighting is good maybe add a bit of a rim light.

:D I once started a thread asking whether to buy another flash for rim lighting, or whether I should start investing in studio strobes - it was suggested I learn to use what I already have. Ever since then, every time ... someone has commented I could use a rim light - nevermind! :D I should start listening to the little voices in my head that tell me to spend money, and less on the voices of reason from the forum..

Could always use a reflector (specifically the silver side or gold). Cheaper and good to practice with not sure what was said on the other thread but they could have meant this.

I've tried using a reflector, but at f8, 1/200 - with a single light source on the other side of the body - I feel that you become very limited on angle to reflect enough light back to make a difference. I may just need more practice or something, but it's my experience so far.

Now I am impressed your getting this lighting with 1 source. Think you are ready to add additional then.

It is a Kacey 22inch Beauty Dish, using 2 speed-lights - so maybe just get a 3rd speed light? :) I want to build a studio in the garden, but I'm saving up for a 200mm f2 just now... sigh.. I want it all, and I want it now :)

Cool photos fella. You use this with 2 speedlghts firing through the dish? Not that I have used a beauty dish at all but just curious.

Yup, two speed-lights fired in - it needs the power if I grid it, and it helps with the recycle time.

Great shots as usually Dan & fantastic lighting on all of them. No cc on the processing, it looks perfect to me.

How are finding the actions now you've had them a while? Lovely work, I enjoyed your lighting threads, Mandy

Thanks Amanda

I haven't touched them since these photos above, for the last month I've been engrossed in street photography.

However I do look forward to using them for any portrait work I might do.
