Elinchrom modelling bulb and cap

I picked up a set of Elinchrom D-lites yesterday and have a question about the modelling bulbs. If I fit the modelling bulb and then the cap the cap touches the modelling bulb. It's not pressing hard but they touch. Is this normal? I don't mind as they aren't likely to get banged about I just wanted to check this was okay, or am I supposed to remove the modelling bulb each time?

Are they second hand? Sounds like non-standard bulbs - should be mushroom-shaped, not the more common longer tube-shaped type. Though if the wattage is right they will work okay.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread but this seemed pertinent, I recently got a few new bulbs and to my surprise they wouldn't fit into an Elinchrom head. For whatever reason they've changed the bulb design:

The newer bulb (bottom of the picture, has Elinchrom branding rather than super leuci on the front) is slightly longer which causes problems with older protective caps, Elinchrom themselves may not be aware of this because their newer heads (recent BRX, D-lite RX etc) have longer protective caps so the bulbs fit just fine but if you're using older gear you may well run into problems.
