Hello everybody,

I am from the southern part of Germany (Bavaria) and registered to this forum, because my girlfriend and I plan to go to south England in June. Talking about photography, we both are interested amateurs and in every vacation our cameras are always aboard.

So, we are planning to go most likely to Cornwall (in total we have almost 2 weeks in GB) and we are looking for some nice spots to take pictures. Maybe someone here has some recommendations where to go, where we can take nice pictures of the landscape/sea/villages/fisherboats and people :)
Our plan would be to get a nice B&B somewhere in Cornwall an to plan daily trips from there. Can anybody recommend a nice village at the sea with nice pubs and maybe restaurants (and if possible not too touristic :)). Or maybe somebody knows a B&B, where we could stay for10 nights or so?

Thank you in advance for your support
Rainer

Hi Rainer and welcome to TP - I am sure that some folks from Cornwall will be along soon with some suggestions. The South West of UK is very nice indeed - You have made a good choice :D

Have a great holiday and look forward to seeing you around (y)

Welcome to the forums Rainer. I would also start a separate thread asking for locations for your holiday here.

We are just over the county border in Devon and visit Cornwall quite often. We have stayed in a pub for a few nights but it was in the middle of winter so not too busy. The pub we stayed in is the Port William in a little village on the North coast a few km West from Tintagel called Trebarwith Strand. http://www.theportwilliam.co.uk/

ALL of Cornwall (well, the pretty parts!) is full of tourists (or "emmets" as the Cornish call them [ants]) during the summer so beware! TBH, all the nice bits of South England are full of tourists during the season, although if you're here in early to mid June, the children will still be at school so it won't be quite as bad as July and August!

Our favourite part of Cornwall is the North coast, mainly because we can get there in an hour from home, but we do like all of the county. Of particular interest in the South of the county is the Eden project, a huge set of greenhouses full of tropical and Mediterranean plants but it's a popular tourist destination so can get very busy (good photo opportunities though.)

I know there are a few members here who live down that way and they'll give you more ideas for B&Bs and pubs.

Enjoy your stay!

Good morning and thank you for the warm welcome!
Thank you for all the tipps, Nod. The B&B you mentioned looks very nice, but for the time we are going to stay in the UK it is, unfortunately, booked out. We will see, where we can stay. I there any vacation in the UK between June 10th and June 22nd?

Ive stayed in all of these and can recommend them all, they are with the same brewery as the Port William (where coincidently I used to work many many years ago) and you can link to others around the county. I have no connection with the brewery other than the coincidence of staying at a few of their pubs.
Im from cornwall originally and still go back a lot and the above are a few of the places Ive returned to many times. Have a great time.

Good morning Rainer, Bayern is a lovely part of the world - I've spent some time in München and now have family in Niederbayern.

Nod has already mentioned the Eden Project, and that's something in Cornwall I'd like to see. I don't think there will be a problem finding landscapes and seascapes, it's a beautiful part of the world.

Hi Rainer, some of my favourite spots in Cornwall are: Bottallack Mines, Chun Quoit, Mên-an-Tol, Bedruthen Steps, Tintagel, Kynance Cove, St Michael's Mount, Chysauster Iron Age Village and food in the Turks Head in Penzanze. Have a great trip

Thank you everybody for all hints. We finally booked some places, and looking forward to see Cornwall. We hope, that we won't have rain for 2 weeks :) Many of your recommendations are on our travel route ...
