Hi all
I am looking to buy a laser printer to print out football programmes for my local team, ideally under £200. I am currently using an Inkject (CanonMG 6350 ) which I am well pleased with but its proving a bit expensive as the ink tanks are only small. It needs to be colour and be able to print on both sides of A4 sheet and as cheap to run as possible as I will be funding it all myself. Anybody got any recommendations

Thanks for your help on this

Richie

For cheapness it is hard to beat inkjet with a continuous ink supply most commonly available with Epson printers, I think. I have no experience with colour lasers.

Thanks for the feedback - the curry's one sounds just what I am looking for. A trip there is order of the day - anybody any other recommendations ?

Hi

When you select your chosen Laser printer, double check on the consumable price

For example I just bought a Samsung Mono Laser printer for £59.99 but the replacement toner cartridge is £57.99 so I might as well buy a new printer every time it runs out of toner.

But it probably comes with a starter toner that only has half the life of a regular one.

Morning, I do similar to you, I produce programmes for a number of local clubs. This year I have printed bulk of text on Inkjet with compatible cartridges to keep costs down and purchased a Brother laser as mentioned above for covers. The covers is not then affected if it gets damp at a match. I got a good deal on the Brother from John Lewis as they match the price Staples offered it at less than £130.00. Might be worth looking into.

If it's just for text get a used office laserjet they're designed for a really hard life and have pretty cheap consumables.

I use one of these:

Quality isn't as good as my inkjet but it's good enough for quick and dirty printing of documents and such like. Photo prints are pretty good, especially on gloss paper.

Interesting for when I need to go colour!

FWIW in regard to costs ~ I used to have inkjet printers (mainly Epson) but they eat cartridges (I do not have the space for a CISS system)................the majority of what I printed was, as I work from home, was business stuff i.e. 95% + mono prints so when the last Epson turned its toes up I bought a mono HP LaserJet (1102W AFAIK identical ~ one of them I surmise is badged engineering? ~ to Paul-H's Samsung). To date I have printed in excess of 26,000 sheets and I use HP oem carts and the costs work out to 3p per A4 sheet.................I do not have the confidence in the quality of non OEM remanufactured carts as I cannot have a failure. But he is right that the carts cost only in my case approx. £8-10 less than a new printer but why buy a new printer laser when the current one is still working well.

IMO we have too many products with built in obsolescence like the Epson inkjet and the ink pad full error ~ agh!!! Why add to landfill if you do not have to :)

Since print longevity and colour accuracy isn't too much of an issue, a super cheap inkjet and cheap 3rd party inks could be the answer. I wouldn't advise them (3rd party inks) for anything that longevity and colour accuracy was needed but for short lived stuff they'll probably do!

Well I have taken the plunge and ordered the Brother HL 3150 - Ordered through Amazon - Thankyou all for your help with this
