You have my jealousy - Athens and the Acropolis is on my bucket list, but so far we've not made it and your shots have wet my apetite again.

These capture the ruins in a way that's not often seen, with 2 and 3 showing how close the city of Athens is and putting perspective on the monument. I especially like the way you've isolated the detail of the statues in 3.
I like 1 for the dark moodiness, but although there's detail in the sky it doesn't quite manage to fill that very large space to the left of the pillars - probably needed to walk a bit further right.
No. 4 is a good record shot with the hill in the background to add a sense of location, but it feels like it needs more space to the left while the sky above is a bit featureless to fill such a large space. Wouldn't hurt to clone out the chains & posts either.
No. 5 is a great concept, framing with the pillars and a good B&W conversion (like No.1) but it feels *to me* like the ruin needs to be a little higher in the gap between the pillars.

Of all these, No.2 is my favourite with it's sweep from the old across the scruffy but newer city that fills the space between the hills like water in a bay.

I tend to avoid Athens - I had too much of it in the 80s & 90s... However, the mood in No 1 is good - dark & vaguely menacing.

I'm going to Athens in three weeks. Looking at maps am I best to shoot am or pm here? My judgement says late pm

I think these were taken in the morning if I remember correctly, but I would have thought pm would be better - a sunset up there would give some stunning lighting.
Enjoy your visit! I can thoroughly recommend the meatballs in the special sauce at 'To Kafeneio' - a tiny restaurant at the base of the Parthenon, quite hard to find but well worth the visit.
I'll be interested to see your photos from Athens.
Regards
Jim
