Great Kit or the numpty behind the lens challenge - Sat 13th to Sun 28th September

I'm in.

What's the deal with disposable cameras - if I buy a B&W one, am I supposed to crack it open, process the film, and throw the rest away?

I've just got two of these

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Ilford-HP5-Single-Disposable-Camera/dp/B00AKTSQ98

They were right at the back of the film fridge at work. Been there years... well out of date.. but as they're fridged they'll be fine. Taking one apart to measure the actual focal length/distance and aperture, and will shoot something ASAP. Yes, I'll crack it open and process it myself.. faster than sending it away to be processed, as not many minilabs can do B&W these days. I'll probably hand print them as well.. proper old school.

Yes got one sitting here ready to go so just say the word.

Lol ok Yv thanks.

Time to give this thread a kick up the top, anyone else fancy having a play? :D

My cameras are sitting here waiting for the weekend, got a few plans for what to do.
Tempted to have a play ... just need to find where I can get a disposable/single use/whatever-the-accepted-term-is camera from ... ;)

pound shops, most of the supermarkets probably still do them, amazon, snappy snaps, online photo shops....

Not sure I've ever seen a single use camera in a pound shop, certainly worth grabbing if you see them! I got a Fuji one for a fiver yesterday in the big Exeter Sainsbury (who also still do processing, another fiver for process and CD). Boots also have them, BOGOF, varying between a few quid and £15 or so for underwater or other fancy ones. As you said, Snappy Snaps and Max Spielmann in some city centres as well.

Can get them online.. Amazon etc. You tend to pay more though. Saw some in our Local Tesco the other day.

I am although god only knows what I will produce, got a B&W as well as a colour disposable. Wish me luck lol

I also grabbed b & w as well as colour. Have a trip planned for next weekend so going to hold off on shooting too much until then.

I'm away this afternoon and tomorrow to vintage and classic vehicle show so I hope to get some there. The colour disposable has 39 exposures so plenty to get through!

I had contrasty sunlight, hazy diffused light, fog, and rain all in one day :)

I'm going to hand print, which takes time... so I'm just going with whatever I shot yesterday :)

Aargh, forgot about this. Ok I'll get something sorted this weekend.

I have 2 instant cameras for this. Neither of which has made it off the shelf....

Bugger, meant to get one for Southend on Saturday!

I've still got the one from 2 years ago that never got processed, think there may be 1 or 2 frames left on it.

When is the thread open for posting your photos please?

I think it is now isn't it?

Has anyone shot anything?

I'm waiting to print. I decided not to scan the negs. Being a black and white film camera, I decided to go the whole way, and hand print the negs onto proper fibre based black and white paper... and then scan. Will try and get this done this week.

Took mine out yesterday, but I should have stopped shooting as the light went all flat...

For those not as brave as David, and with the more common colour film (C41) cameras, some large ASDAs do process and CD for £3, also a few Sainsbury and Tesco. Also some Boots; if not inshore, they'll send away. The scans tend to be rather over-sharpened in many cases. There is a thread in the Film & Conventional section on film processing; my favourite is Photo Express in Hull, £4.50 (after a 50p TP discount, tell them your TP ID) plus £1 P&P, but you have to pay the postage to them, which annoyingly is £3.20 first class. Photo Express's scan is MUCH better.

A couple, will be (hopefully) doing some more later this week.

I think I'll let whoever develops mine do the scanning ;)

I haven't started it yet, though I could if people are desperate to get posting :D

No not desperate :D, I am away this weekend but will post them on Monday/Tuesday depending on what time I get back.

I have to get my second camera developed which I only just finished this morning, not holding my breath though for anything too exciting!;)

I'm still traumatised from the last time! Might give it another go though...

Nothing wrong with blaming the tools. Using one of these is really like trying to drive in nails with a screwdriver handle. It can be done but it's much easier with a proper hammer ;)

Finished mine off today. Will be lucky if there is much on it!

I had two and experimented with one shooting at various distances... using tripods.. just to see how sharp I could get the image from it. I also took it apart and measured the actual focal length and focal distance. I was amazed how sharp I could get images from the remaining one.

Will be printing this weekend, so I'll scan the prints not long after that.

@Yv

Where do we post them? Is there a separate thread for posting images, voting etc? No one seems to be posting them in here, and I can't find another thread.

Confused.

think that's still the case David...

Not anymore...sorry guys, had something of a week from hell, but as I sit here in a hotel room with flaky wifi after a much needed and incredibly relaxing and fun day on the Norfolk Broads, I can now announce...

Post your photos in THIS thread - but do read the OP first!!
