How far do you need to reach?

It's also worth looking at the home plug ethernet over mains cable style things if there is mains power roughly where you want to have a signal. Could then plug a repeater in to that and it should be rock solid reliable. Might cost a bit more as you'd need a pair of homeplugs, one at the normal router end and another at the repeater end plus the cost of the repeater.

Netgear seem to an all one doodad:

I'd be wary of the ultra cheap ones as they don't last.

TP Link do a 300mbs and a 150mbs one:

Have a look at ebuyer.com and aria.co.uk for homeplug system. A pair of homeplugs costs around £20 for 200MBPS or £30 for 500MBPS, and some also come with a built in access point at one end. I use homeplugs around the house for general networking, plus a wifi access point (separate unit) for 'guest' computers.

Just make sure that your house all runs on the same circuit or ring-main as this can cause problems, especially if the meter is in the direct path, I've known a few houses now where HomePlug's do NOT work, these have been old houses with antiquated electrics, but it's best to keep this in mind.

This is what we've found here, the extansion has a separate meter so it basically didn't work. Now have a Huawei WS320 repeater in there, and still having issues. Initially it just simply would not give internet access, I have no idea why. Tried connecting it with WPS, never worked. After watching a youtube video on setting it up manually that worked, till earlier this week when everything internet just went west. I've now binned the Home Hub 4, reconnected the Home Hub 3 and so far in the main house wireless is now fine. However, the Huawei is still giving no internet no matter what you do with it. The annoying thing is it insists on giving itself the same SSID, so I can't tell if I'm connected through the repeater or the Home Hub! On the Home Hub 4 in this situation internet would now be down everywhere, and you'd need to unplug the repeater to get any kind of connectivity, but on the Home Hub 3 I'm still getting connectivity through the router, just not the repeater. Such a headache!

Have you seen Cloudtrax? I highly recommend it. It won't repeat the existing signal of your router so you would need 1 for the router location and another to repeat, or mesh via Ethernet. Absolutely fantastic for the price.

I've been using OM2P-HP devices to cover a block of flats for my dad (Meraki is a little too expensive for him and the other owners), and zero issues in over a year.
