Ooooh the second of those for me Susie. Not completely sure it says dark to me, but who cares.

I love the natural sunglow here too, it really adds, and I also love the colour on the OOF spiders web, the veins in the leaf and the lovely dark lower section.

First I feel is a bit busy on the top of the holly with spiders web and a few other bits, also it doesn't sit well in the portrait orientation for me.

Hey Susie :)

Falls - Although I like the shot of the leaf caught in the web, I much prefer the second shot, the autumn (fall) colours and light are wonderful (y)

Communicate - Now that's a great idea for the theme, really like the low point of view, and the glisten of the setting sun in the water and bottle - very nice :)

Dark - A couple of great images again, for me it's the holly, liking the webs and the outline highlights of the leaves, nice dark background too :)

Thanks Graham ... much appreciated as always ... the light at the moment through the trees is really lovely ...I guess it's due to the low autumn sun :)

Hi DK ... Thank you for hopping in and for the encouraging comments .... I'm still hanging on in there, and really enjoying the challenge :)

Hi Susie, the second one is excellent really nice light through the leaf and in the spider web, you are very good at spotting these little scenes (y)

Fall - Super shot and some lovely brown colours captured with the sun coming through from the back right. Well seen given it's hanging there by the strands of a web

Communicate - Great idea for the theme but I feel the image is maybe a bit too dark

Dark - Another nice nature shot just focussing in on one aspect of the forest. Lovely rim lighting around the holly leaves.

Hi Susie

Dark #1 for me..the sunlight has caught the holly perfectly , lovely dark back ground as well (y)

Communicate.......can't get that bloomin song out of my head now...grrrr!!!! Like the low POV , the sun( or is it the moon) on the water but I do think it could stand a touch of lightening...

Love both those Dark images Susie ... you do that kind of thing so well.

Thanks Lynne...that was sunlight on the water ...taken late afternoon....you've got me thinking of the song now :)

Hi Susie, great focus and a fantastic golden colour , only crit I can offer is maybe a little crop from the top, maybe halfway through the twig or lose it completely as it sort of catches my eye

love frogs hardly get to see them these days, you are right what big eyes

Well done again Susie... Seem to keep saying that. :)

He is a great little froggy with beautiful big eyes, perfectly in focus, completely separated from the rest of the scene through the very nice shallow dof. Lovely colour with the orange round the eye really popping.

Allan's right about the top. Just taking the space from above the twig is enough for me. Leave as much of the twig as possible, just lose the space above it.

Focus

maybe select a square ... cut halfway thru that top twig and take a similar amount off the bottom?

Beautiful colours and ginormous eyes - another fantastic shot Susie (y) I think I would have been tempted to crop big chunks from the top and bottom to make it portrait format, but I know I often have a tendency to overcrop, so maybe not .....

Hi Susie, just a quick visit to your thread - you've never failed to comment on my photos. Sadly I haven't fully reciprocated...

I like the message in the bottle shot very much - it could have been used for sparkle too! I agree with others about how the bottle stands out in a dusky light.
Your dark shots are great too - you take some fantastic nature shots and that sun-glow is awesome... which brings me to BIG. Stunning photo of the frog. Great close up and crystal clear. Well done all over.

Thanks Allan ...he was a really lucky find ...we do get a few in our pond...they actually scare the living daylights out of me if they hop out unexpectedly.

Thanks Graham ...I was a bit nervous when I started on here ...but hopefully I 've managed t come up with some acceptable posts for the themes. To crop or not to crop ...that is the question :) will give it a go if I get time this afternoon.

Hi Simon...don't think twice about not commenting ... I fully appreciate how busy you are ...but of course it's good to see you :) Glad you liked the shots ... I'm a huge nature lover...it somehow brings a sense of peace into my sometimes hectic life :)

Looks good Susie. I just realised I said portrait format instead of landscape, but you knew what I meant

I've never understood why but our PC screens are landscape, post a landscape pic on a site like this and it's shows bigger than a portrait.

Susie's pic has been trimmed top and bottom and now it is wider.

Yup, this is what I thought. The extremely shallow DOF really isolates the eyes.

Cheers.

It's a mystery d00d

Like it! Wall hanger, right there, large canvas. What lens did you use?
Hi Simon I used a 45/150 lens with a Raynox 150 attached. Not sure if I could live with that on my wall :)

Crops great Susie, amazed how you have such a shallow dof here, yet somehow manage to get everything necessary within it.

Hi Susie :)

Big - Brilliant focus and DoF on this one, the edit with the tighter crop I really like, I'd hang that on a wall for sure, nice find in your garden and very well captured/presented

Thanks guys .... very much appreciated comments .... I had my two small grandsons outside with me wanting to look at the frog so I was scared stiff it would move before I got the shot. It was in fact still there next morning, but hopped off during the day.

Hi susie, I knew you had a Raynox and you take some great pics with it. I've never had much luck with mine, would never attempt to focus on something like a frog in a pond with it. I've now just realised mine is a 250, yours is a 150. Hmmmm
