Can anyone recommend good locations in the Ashby or a Burton areas please. Looking for architecture, churches, gardens or even industrial type locations where a small group of us can go for a bit of shared camera time. Thanks all.

Well you have Ashby Castle of course, and Ashby is a reasonably nice little town for an hour or so..

NMA is about 30-40 mins drive, but great.

Staunton Harold is a nice resevoir which is decent to walk from, to Calke Abbey. Plenty of opportunities, not much architecture until you get to calke abbey/church etc..

I,d suggest calke abbey loads to photograph, house, gardens nearby church and deer park. Though if you can I'd try and go midweek or early if you want any wide shots as it can get busy at weekends

If you wanted to stray just a little bit, head towards Coalville and swing by Mount Saint Bernard Abbey (LE67 5UL). I'm certain the monks there don't speak although I did talk to the resident photographer who was a monk! He shoots a Canon and uses Photoshop!!

Thanks for the replies everyone. Would never have thought of a cemetery! And Mount St Bernard's sounds good. I'd call them if they could speak, so probably better to email!!! Cheers all.
