Last Light, Moon Light, First Light

Well it is worth printing and framing. For what it is worth before you do that,I would light balance all three together, this would not hurt the effect just balance all together for the printed and framed photograph.

The other things I would do is to reduce the vertical black frame between each photograph to say 1mm,it looks like 3mm at the moment, then make the outside framing, that,s top and bottom and left and right at 2mm,I think that would give a better balance for the framed photograph.

Also in the middle shot go back into PP and get rid of the dust mark or light mark in the middle of the mountain line, easy to see.

The last thing I would try is to flip #3 the reason being is that you would then create the LH up horizon to the middle high spot and then the RH down horizon. I think that this would be a better visual tryptic.

Cheers Richard, I think your right about the border I'll have a look at reducing it, I'm not sure what you mean by light balance though.

If I'm reading you right then the dust mark is actually flare, there was a doozy in the foreground I took out because it was small but very intense. But I'm not sure how possible it would be to remove from that one, worth ago though.

Yeah that might work, I spent ages trying to get the three images to flow into each other better but flipping the third might give it a little more balance.

Like Richard says think I would try and reduce the flare in the 2nd image plus I would also lighten the forground in the 2nd and 3rd image, does not need alot then it would even the images out.

The sky in the 2nd one needs a little work as there is a bright white light in the top right that I would reduce, the other 2 have really nice subbtle skys where as the one in the middle seems to shout (hope that sound right :) )

Think also in the two colour ones I would just adjust the levels in the sky a little to boost the colour again does not need much.

Think I would also reduce the black frame to 1mm.

Yeah going to have a go at cloning the flare out, the area affect is quite small so should be possible now I've looked again. I think I get what you and Richard are saying; the foreground in the first is a little lighter than the others and they probably just need brought up a fraction of a stop to balance it a bit more.

I know what you mean but I'm not sure there is much I can do with the sky in the middle, the bright light is a full moon and at a five minute exposure that area is basically nuked! But if I crop it out I lose the nice sky of the others, I slept in a bit, I had hoped not to get it in the frame.

Thanks for taking the time to comment Nick.

Understand what your saying about the Moon, maybe (if your using photoshop) use the lasoo tool, make it so it is well feathered, like 100 pxs then just select various areas and adjust accordingly, you can use Levels or Curves

Bit trickey to explain, but doing it that was makes for a more controlled dodge/burn/adjust than just going at it with the other tools.

It does not need much :)

Finally had time to try this. I can conclude I'm appalling at PP. GIMPS doesn't help much either...

I couldn't work any way to remove the flare with out it looking shonky and lightening the foreground ended up brining up too much of the rest of the image and felt too bright. I'll keep playing but I think I'm a lost cause and now too tired to concentrate. :)

Sorry for the delay only just signed in.

Yes to me that looks much better now you have got lots more detail out of the second image, I like it alot.

GIMPS? Don't know that onone I am still using CS2 from years ago
