Can't believe there isn't a topical Halloween thread already. Surely some of you know how to have a little fun.

We've been baking spider cupcakes, skeleton cookies today, pumpkin carving later on. Watched the conjuring last night to get in the mood.

House is decorated, and we are meeting up with lots of our neighbours old and young to have a fun party. Followed by a spooky walk in the forest at night.

Even my car got marked last night. Oh oh

Anyone else having a party?

Americanised loada pish these day. Totally lost it's identity. Trick or treat my @rse.

Oh joy LOL I guess it was to be expected

Dressing up and having a party sounds as if it could be fun. It is the import, from across the pond, of 'trick or treat' that IMO we could do without.

Dave

Dressing up and going door to door with a joke/trick is not an import. Saying "trick or treat" is though.

Not had time to do much this year. Previous years we had half a torso coming out the front lawn (windscreen mechanism driven), dead body with police tape around it, last year was two arms pulling into the bush with scrape marks, accompanied by screams, all triggered when children knocked.

This year I think it's going to have to be fog machine in the hallway and a costume

Ha. Love it.

Blimey, you go all out eh?

True, HungtingMartians. Door to door performing something - joke, poem, song, magic trick in return for cakes, sweets is not the import, but the suggested "trick", if there is no "treat" is.

Must say I don't recall door to door visits, of any sort, on this night until at least the mid/late 1980s.

Yes it is Americanised , but no one is forcing anyone to celebrate it. In fact, I don't celebrate it, and I will be ignoring the door. But I like having a laugh with some Halloween photos.

Took some Lego ones for fun!

Bah! Humbug!

Begging with menaces night should be banned IMO. I don't mind the kids from the street knocking on the door at a civilised time but do object to the teenagers from further afield whose "costume" is a vacuum moulded mask leaning on the doorbell after 10pm. The only plus side is that I get to eat the leftover sweets. ;) :D (I also make sure we get plenty of nice sweets in along with the cheapo crap we give the kids!!!)

Lights will be off downstairs and the batteries will come out of the doorbell

Used to have bowls of Fun-Size choccy bars for the little kiddies but too many teens with moulded masks (which they were holding by their sides) and lacking in manners spoilt it. :(

My lad dressed for a late night adults party. Before he went he answered the door to the trick or treat kids, scared the c**p out of em.

Me too. Get great satisfaction out of spoiling their fun, my trick ooooooOOOHHaHa Ha!

To be fair I live in a cul-de-sac renowned locally for being full of OAPs, so even without the above measures it's pretty quiet
It's one of the reasons this house was chosen!
