Hello, all.
I live half the time in Cheshire & half the time in Somerset, due to a complicated work life.

I'm new to photography, although I've been taking snaps for years, I'm new to being serious about photography & wanting to take it up as a hobby & steadily improve.
I've always had an appreciation of good photography & admired those who can present an image that makes you look right in to it, and even better, the images that make you think. I attended an exhibition of my late grandfathers photography from the 1950's, and surprised myself in being really proud of this man who'd passed away just before I was born. I came away with photography whirling round in my head & it wasn't letting up, so I bought some photography books first of all. I enjoyed reading them & found myself spending hours online mainly looking at photo journalism images by Cartier Bresson, Gordon Gordon Parks & Anders Petersen. I also got consumed by the portrait photo's from the 60's by Bailey, Duffy & Donovan.

I've quickly become incredibly enthusiast about photography. With what seems to be one foot in the street photography camp & the other in the portrait camp. I also am lucky enough to work with an incredible wildlife photographer who's images have been used to illustrate several books.

I hope learn from people on the forum and enjoy being a member of the community here.

Thank you.

Hello and welcome to the forum

Hi, And welcome aboard TP, looking forward to hearing from you and maybe seeing some of your images on the various forums. "Enjoy".

Thank you for the 'welcome' messages.

Carl, my Somerset base is Wells & my Cheshire base is Chester. I'm very lucky, they're both beautiful places to spend time in. Beautiful places for photography too when I get the hang of it.

Ahh that's a great area, there's beautiful countryside all around you and reasonably close to the coast. You're close enough to Bristol if you want to go there, but not too close that you're in a busy area. I drove through Wells on Friday on my way to Cheddar Gorge for an afternoon of landscape photography :)

Hello Pinkbikerbabe! Been moochin about the forum a bit...seems there's some good folks here?!

That's what I'll be needing I reckon... Plenty of advice, tips & critique, with a healthy portion of takin the pi$$ thrown in.
