At the moment i use a canon 15-85 on my 7dmk2, but i was wondering what people thought was the the sharpest walkabout lens for the crop canon? im thinking 17-55, but would love to hear what others thought and opinions as im thinking of an upgrade but only if there's a good alternative that's worth the expense

Have a look at this comparison. I have the 17-55 and really love it's images on my 50d. It's quite a chunk of lens though.

great video, thanks, food for thought , the 17-55 looks like it may be the way to go

Don't rule out the sigma 17-50! It's only a smidge behind the canon and its smaller and lots cheaper!! I have 1 and rearly sharp!

just seen the 17-55 is 77mm same as my 10-22, which means my 10 stop will fit, mmm, i think my mind is made up, ive put a req in the wanted section if anyone has one they wish to shift for
a reasonable price

I have listed my 50d and if it sells my 17-55 will be homeless. I bought it from here for £300 which is a bargain and i'll be selling for the same but not till the body has gone. I was seriously thinking about selling it on ebay as i'd certainly make money after the fees but it seems unfair to make money in this way.

I would imagine the canon 50mm f1.8 would take some beating, being a Nikon shooter I can't speak out of experience!

I've got a sigma 17-70 2.8-4 and it's a cracking lens, razor sharp and the perfect walk about go to lens.
