Hi guys, I am going to Rome for a weekend in December. It being a short trip want to make the most of it. Any tips on do and donts would be very helpful. I am keen on landscape, cityscape and indoor architecture photography. Pls do suggest the hot spots. I guess its too short to squeeze in Pisa into this, right?

Any inputs appreciated.

Naveen, you can "squeeze in" a trip to Pisa, but it'll be quite a long day. The trains take about 2.5 to 3 or 4 hours each way, the faster ones are generally more expensive, and you may have to change in Florence. I suggest you check the timetables online and book in advance, because it's cheaper, but I don't know if the tickets are transferable if you miss a connection.

Can't really help you with suggestions for photography, my interests are more in history and archaeology, but most of the popular places in Rome are reasonably close together. A wide angle is, at least, very useful and possibly essential though.

I managed Rome with just a 24-70F2.8 on a D800, CPL and tripod. 24 is wide enough for most interior shots. A wider lens would be handy but not essential.

Okay, but 24mm is wide angle on a FF body. I don't know what the OP plans to use, and its field of view is about 36 - 38mm equivalent with most crop sensors. That isn't very wide.
