HI, out today following the Rally of the Tests, it was COLD, so I,m looking for a pair of gloves, gonna be a xmass prezzie of my partner, anyone recommend a decent pair. . .
cheers,
Dave

Having been out tonight I am inclined to agree, probably fingerless gloves are the best compromise, warmth and control. Long exposures make it too cold by far! Probably will invest in a pair myself. :snaphappy:

I'm getting on ok with easy off photography gloves, but ive ordered some liners, as still feel abit cold, but much better than without!

chemical hand warmers might be worth a look too, not used any yet

Been using latex one,s, black powderless, not bad if its just cold, really do help, but I want something for really cold shoots. Nice light trail by the way, love the curve. . . .

When I was in Finland shooting the Northern Lights, I wore a pair of silk glove liners that I have for skiing and a pair of standard fingerless gloves over the top. Between shots may hands stayed in my pockets! I found this gave the best compromise between warmth and dexterity.

Having dug my sheepskin flying jacket out of it's summer cupboard, I've found my silk inner gloves! Usually warm enough and allow plenty of dexterity, Fit under any other gloves too.

North Face etip's, thin enough to not get in the way and keeps cold at bay nicely, had mine a few years and you can still use them for touch screen phones etc too.

WOW some expensive gloves out there, now I use these being a northerner:eek::) Work well and grip the camera beautifully in all but the coldest of days.(y)

I got some sealskinz ultra grip last week. Can handle the camera well in them but takes a while for them to bed in and are a bit tight initially.

I ride motorcycles for fun and love :)

I found many years ago that if you wear a pair of rubber or latex gloves underneath your 'normal' winter gloves, they increase the heat retention by 50%

Well I did wear a pair of Latex disposable gloves on the day, but they just wernt enough, I,m a mechanic and wear them all the time for work.
Thanx for all the help folks, but my other half has decided to completely ignore all your tips and has already orderd me some, lets see what santa brings eh. ..
cheers,
Dave

I've a pair of Lowepro gloves - bought as a Christmas present for me and they're great, they allow lots of feel and have the little gripy dots on them, so gives me a lot of confidence holding the camera with them...

Last few years I have suffered quite badly from Raynaud's and gloves only seem to delay the painful white numb finger effect.

Now use silk gloves along with a Zippo handwarmer, always carry a couple of hot hands chemical handwarmers too

Find that any gloves only delay the inevitable and a good warm up does the trick long enough to get going again

Got a bit of frostbite in my toes a while back and that kicks off at times. Merino wool socks works for them along with a pair of Derri thermal boots in very cold weather

You can get gloves that are only fingerless on the thumb and index finger ideal for photography. I sell them on my Amazon store.

Sealskinz are very good gloves in use them for detailing during winter and never had a problem with cold hands must actually try them when I get the chance to take the camera out. Can't see them being a problem as they are thin enough

I have a pair of Sealskinz sporting gloves, the thumb and index finger fold back on themselves, warm and waterproof.Shop around and you won't be disappointed, or do what I did and put them on my Xmas pressies list.If you find they aren't warm enough then you can also buy lining gloves to go with them.
