Welcome to the official launch thread for the 2015 Photo52.

If you're looking for some inspiration and a reason to get your camera out every week, the Photo52 is a great way to challenge yourself and encourage you to keep shooting new things throughout the year.

I have in front of me my trusty bag of themes and all I need now are some willing volunteers to take on the challenge in 2015.
I know that we have some returning 52ers chomping at the bit for a new year and hopefully we'll see some new faces joining in too.

This is Year number 7 for the TP Photo52 and whether you're new to this or an experienced 52er, all the very best of luck to everyone who decides to take part.

*** HOW IT WORKS ***

The Short Version

In its simplest form, every Friday evening a theme is pulled at random from a bag and is posted in this thread. During the following week everyone taking part posts a photo interpreting the theme however they choose in their own individual 52 thread.
There is no competition element to this, you simply shoot for your own enjoyment, progression and sense of achievement.


The Longer Version : Step By Step Guide

1) Wait for the theme to be announced. I'll update the thread title and the list below as soon as each week has been drawn.

2) Think about the theme and how you want to interpret it.

3) Take your Photo.

4) Create a thread for your own 52 in the Projects and Themes sub forum.

5) Post the photo in your thread, update the title of your OP with the week number and share your thinking behind the shot - plus if you feel like it, share what you learned each week.

6) Also add your photo to the "Post your Photographs Here" thread so that others can see at a glance who's posted updates.

7) Take a look at some of the other 52s and post some comments / feedback to encourage your fellow 52ers.

8) Wait for the next theme to be announced.

9) Repeat all steps except no.4 every week until the end of the year. (Step 4 : "creating your own thread" only needs to be done once. All subsequent weeks will be added to your existing thread rather than starting a new thread each week)


Don't forget to keep track of your progress through the spreadsheet that Dark Knight has very kindly set up again this year.

*** RULES ***

There are no hard and fast rules - or at least I don't set any rules for you to follow.

This is all about your own personal challenge.
You can trawl your archives for suitable pictures, shoot 2 weeks behind the theme, have as many JOKERS as you want and there's nothing stopping you using the themes to do a "26" by picking one theme out of every two.
It's YOUR challenge, so decide on a set of rules and personal objectives that will challenge YOU.



*** FEATURES ***

> RESHOOT Cards : There will be ONE RESHOOT WEEK every quarter.

Four reshoot cards have been added to the bag.
If a reshoot card has NOT been drawn at random by the end of any given a quarter, week 13, 26, 39 or 52 will automatically become the reshoot week for that quarter.

During reshoot weeks, a second card is also drawn from the bag with a new theme as usual.
Those taking part have 3 options :

a) RESHOOT a theme from any of the previous weeks (the idea is that you can have a break from thinking about another new theme and demonstrate to the world how much you've improved).

b) Shoot that week's new theme as normal ignoring the RESHOOT card.

c) Prove that you're a hardened 52er and do both. RESHOOT a previous week and shoot the new theme drawn that week.


> JOKERS : if you don't like a theme you can play a JOKER and use it to either

a) Miss the week completely
or
b) Post a photo that doesn't fall within the drawn theme.




The challenge is open to everybody, no matter what level of experience you have.
If you decide you want to join in part way through the year that's fine too - nobody says you need to start on week 1.

My first year and I'm looking forward to this and poty. Its going to get me using my camera more and trying different ideas so it can only be a good thing. I am well up for the challenge and it'll be inyteresyting to look back at my 2015 thread in a good few years time. 52 is a brilliant idea, well done folks (y)

As you know, this all started out as a bit of a joke for me,
but TBH, I'm quite looking forward to giving it a go now :)
And I also promise not to ninja edit / alter / change any themes I don't like too :D
(Well I'll do my best on that anyway :D)

Shhhh I've seen them, although there are far more than 52, so I don't know exactly
which ones will get pulled out the bag,

I've already said that I'm playing 52 "jokers" :D

Sometimes new themes get suggested and added as the year goes on too so there may be a few surprises along the way.

*They all get physically printed and put into a bag, then one gets pulled out at random every Friday.

So, my 18 month old daughter (Cassidy, for those of you not frequenting the People board) has learn't to say, "Oh dear...". I hear this constantly, all day, every day. I'm beginning to wonder if it's a foretelling of me signing up...
