1st attempt at panning....

Popped along to Gti International (VW Show) on Sunday at Bruntingthorpe in Leics, and had a go at panning.....

These are the best of around 200 shots I took during the day !!!

I haven't had chance to do any processing on these yet either, as I need topick up a copy of PS at some point !

You have a good panning technique there. Its a shame that there are barriers and cones i some of them.

Well you could use the GIMP now, which is free (legally): http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html

Shots are nice, very good for a first attempt, just a bit underexposed, it seems.

I think the under exposure is due to me having the exposure compensation set to -0.7, thanks to Ken Rockwell's comments on his website !!! lol

Most of the shots were taken with a shutter speed of 1/250. I did try dropping that due to 1/100 in stages, but found that I haven't quite got the technique for that just yet, so went back up to 1/200.

GIMP sounds interesting, will have a play with that tonight.

Other than having the exp comp set wrong ( you shouldn't need it unless using matrix metering in most cases ) you did damn well for a first outing
