1st Christmas

My Nephew Grant, seeing his first christmas aged 7 months.

I took this shot with a 55mm f2.8 macro at iso800. Im posting in here because I am only starting to point the camera at things other than inanimate objects and would like some C&C regarding the composition, lighting, post, etc.

This was shot in the living room under the artifical light in there, I did leave the curtains open and Im attributing the blown highlight on the righthand side of the head to that.

Overall it's a very good shot. Composition and DOF are spot on.

You've already commented about the blown highlights and the ISO.
NoiseNinja or some such will help somesuch.
and if you are into PS trickery then tone/down lose some of the bright reflections from the tree, they distract from the child IMHO.

I agree, good composition there. The noise does detract a little from it though.

It could be my monitor at work but the reds look a little washed out, could do with being a little stronger.

Overall very good.

I think it's a lovely shot that captures the moment perfectly. As others have said there are a couple of minor points to address but they are easy to sort out. You must be very pleased with this, I know I would be!
