Large Red Damselfly & Four-spotted Chaser. The latter is terrific with great detail.

first shot looks as if the focus is slightly infront of the damselfly, the angle and focus are great in the second nice shot

I agree - No1 is short on focus for the eyes, which is the main foucusing point when shooting macro insects :shrug:

No 2 is superb, very good dof anf the detail is outstanding

Thanks for replies , I agree on focus of 1st shot, had to shoot at an awkward angle & only managed to get one shot, maybe next time

Thanks, it's natural light, it was in a shaft of sunlight, with a shaded area as background, makes it stand out well.

Much better than a flash in my opinion, however: sometime we have to use a flash, I know I carry two one dedicated off the camera and one ring flash- Its all go
