Les, I have been up very close to these really lovely birds and I can say that the colours in the plumage is better at 6 inches that you would think, I agree, 2nd shot is fab and helps show this plumage off nice :D(y)

Thanks guys - first time out with my camera for weeks

Les

Very nice Les,one of our more colourful birds when you get up close

I was around 30 yards from these - Sigma 150-500mm

Welcome back Les 2 lovely shots.

a short visit Bryn, still tied up with the Pheasant season. on till February next year then I should be back with a vengeance mate :D

Beautiful, especially the first. They are really colourful when they catch the light. I'm having to learn to love them as they're about all I get on my feeders at the moment, but I am at least starting to appreciate their good points.

Yes I agree- plenty of these on the Somerset Levels - they love to roost among the Reed beds

Well captured Lez.

Thank you Paul comments appreciated

Now I'm off to work :(

Les :p

Splendid images!

#1 is very painterly and could be a fine illustration rather than a photograph.

#2 is a very fine photograph.

I really dislike these birds as they are go greedy and devour my feeders in next to no time!
However, that's a cracking pair of photos and lovely framing.
