7D settings for copyright info problem

Could some kind 7D owner please let me know if I have a camera fault, or am being a complete numpty.....I am trying to enter my details in the copyright section of the menu, when I select "copyright" then "Enter author's name" I get a space at the top and all the alphabet letters below, and the manual says I should be able to select letters and characters from the selection, however my selector burron doesn't do anything, in fact no button does anything at this point. What am I doing wrong, or have I a camera fault????

Press the 'Picture Style' button (the one under the menu button) to make the character selection area active. You can then select characters. Press it again to make the other area active to move the cursor around etc.

Thanks!!...A case of RTFM and a bit of a numpty as well.... I mistook the picture style logo for the multifunction shifter joystick...:bonk::bonk:
