Amarapura is a former capital of Myanmar, and now a township of Mandalay bounded by the Irrawaddy river.

The name means City of Immortality, and Amarapura was the capital of Myanmar for three discrete periods during the Konbaung dynasty in the 18th and 19th centuries before finally supplanted by Mandalay 11 kilometers north.

Overall it's an interesting set I love that first one, the colours bring it to life...of the others showing the people it's the first that really stands out for me, for the one little lad you've focused on his cheeky grin when all the others have a quite sombre look on them..on the fourth photo I'm a little put off by the cropping of the guys head on the left of frame..

Yes, I agree, a interesting set you have there. Always nice to see images from parts of the world not often seen on here. I like the 5th, as it shows you the reason for the lines of monks.....nice.
