Took this today after specifically going looking for some candid shots in Chester city centre.

I like the image but hate the sky - all washed out after adjusting contrast for the subject.

Any ideas / comments welcome.

It's a very nice shot (y)
If you're not happy with the sky then convert the photo to black & white.
Mono is the classic format of Street Photography so a conversion and a contrast boost should work a treat.

Hope you don't mind, had a quick go...

Slight crop on the left hand side.
Obviously you should be able to make a better job with the original photo.
Another option would be a selective colouring type shot...Leave the phone box red and the rest of the picture mono...

The sky is white and even enough that you could mask it out and replace it with a different sky if you wanted to.

After several attempts I have the following:

This was a separate photo of sky added in as a layer and then 'rubbed out' - a bit like selective colouring.

I then converted to B&W -

Question - Is it obvious?

Answer - Yes

Plus it doesnt really suit the subject at all. Maybe a brick wall would look better? :)
