Hi all c+c welcome on these shots of a barn owl from elmley

Lovely to catch him, I prefer the flight shot but both are quite noisy for ISO 400, particularly the 2nd

I keep thinking the same thing i dont no why there so noisy at that level, its taken on my 70d which is not normally that bad, am i doing something else wrong ???

Were they under-exposed prior to processing?
How are you processing them?

i have lightroom but i am still quite a newbie at that as well

Large crops then, exaggerating the noise present?

the one on the post is a large crop yes the flight one not so big

Bit of selective noise reduction can help, here's a quick edit using N/R

No it's Photoshop but I think Lightroom has some noise reduction ... there are also 3rd party N/R suites like Nik Define

Can you post original's so we can see crop sizes etc?

Just reset the pics in lightroom and they are both quite heavily cropped
