Whilst the BBMF were at North Weald, Sqd Ldr William Pearce (89) was invited into the cockpit of BBMF Spitfire and Hurricane. He flew both types during the war, finishing in Burma on P47s. To the best of my knowledge this was the first time he had been in the cockpit of a Spitfire since 1944.

The BBMF pilots were utterly charming. I believe that they invited William to visit Coningsby, where by all accounts he will be made most welcome.
