Beginner Be honest

You need to post the images really rather than a link

Could not find how to attach image. Reduced to using a pad as my laptop is sick.

Bottom right hand side of the reply box, click that, then click the image you want to up load.
Or use the BB (or IMG)code from your album

Honestly? I'm not sure what I'm looking at. Too much of it is out of focus and the small corner of background with sky looks like it is included by mistake rather than intentional. I would have pulled back a bit to give the viewer more context (hopefully) and made a decision about whether to include the background, and showing more of it, or removed it completely.

Edit: ok I've taken a closer look and can see we are supposed to be looking at a lichen. I think I would aim to get a bit closer and angled more towards the wood (boat?) so it stands out as the subject more. A wide angle lens would help here if you want to show more of the environment it is growing in. Sorry, was looking at it on my mobile and it really wasn't clear what the subject was. I was drawn first to the orange lichen which was slightly OOF.

Just one last point, when you do that, it then gives you the option to load as a thumbnail or full image.
you clicked thumbnail.
scr..jpg

some people are lazy and / or cautious and won't bother clicking a thumbnail.
better to post the "full size"
HTH

BTW There are guidances here as to sizes

Almost 1000 posts and I didn't know this .......... :arghh::banghead::ty:

Me neither, but I always post from an external host so it makes no difference.

To the OP, the textures are OK but as Tim said, the sky is a mistake to include.

LOL glad to have helped guys (y)
Toni, I usually post from Flicker or something, also, but its a quick method of putting up a reference image,
as per the screen shots above
Plus you'd probably be surprised though, the amount of "contacts" we get because people can't, and want to up load direct from their "device" :)

Think it is the app, doesn't give the option.
Thats a bit of a PITA.
I have never used the app. So I can't say if there is a "work around" or not.

Did crop sky out in the originally posted image, the one that posted as thumbnail.
This one is original as shot.
No idea why will not upload full size edited image. Only difference is edited image is in folder on its own.

After examination of the photo, wondering what was wrong or right, I checked the camera's settings. Upon inspection I discovered the lens to be broken.
Now explain s the tight focal length.
On a positive note I now own a macro lens that works damn well (also known as a knackered 15-85)!!

I like the concept but the execution isn't quite right. There's two lichen and the centre of focus appears to lie between them but with insufficient depth of field to cover both. It either needs more DOF so both are sharp or concentrate on just one of the two.
