Bird ID? Not a great photo

I saw him/her around work and am determined to get a better photo of it

I love Goldfinches, and while they do visit my garden occasionally, they seem very illusive.
I have a couple of shots but nothing to write home about.

WHAT ??? Common as muck mate

More likely you've never noticed one before - had one not 10 feet away in my bush today

(no not that sort of bush, wifey was nearer than that at the time)

This is one bird I am lucky enough to have in abundance in my garden.
The are so beautiful and colourful compared to a lot of other relativly drab coloured garden visitors.

There's loads of them about here, I checked on the way down the lane this morning, I suspect my chances of getting a decent shot are on the up
