The 55-250 certainly bats above its weight especially considering the price.
I would be happy if I got any of these.
Did you get hit by many stones, always remember my first time grass track and got smacked in the face with a stone, was a tad painful.

55-250 served me well back in 2010 my first year with a DSLR and still have it as for the shots I like the B+W the best with those twinkling spokes

no stones just a few lumps of dirt in the mouth. the 55-250 can struggle in poor light but if the light is good i find its lightweight very useful for panning shots
