Hello all.

Ive been offered a canon 400mm L F5.6 lens and been asked to offer a price on it.

Flea bay only has new ones and a quick look on the classified section shows not much in the way of 400mm lens only 100-400.
The lens is not IS.

How much should i offer. whats reasonable?

Age/condition?

unsure of age but is in good condition. ie no stratches on paint and optics are perfect. doesnt come with case or box.:crying:

The one that went for £620 on eBay had some scratches on the front element. Although he claimed this did not affect the IQ I can imagine it may have put people off a little.

No case, no box. Good condition....going by previous sales only I'd say between £650-£700.

You need to search the price new and take off 10-20% depending on condition Mint 10 good glass but scratched body down to 20% if worst then that leave alone and find another.

These are £1100 or so new. If you can get one in near-mint condition for £700 then it's a huge bargain. I'd have thought £800 or perhaps even more would be more likely.

You might also ask why it's being sold. These are highly specialised lenses (for 99% of people I would expect the 100-400L to be far more attractive) and for the most part people don't spend £1000+ on them unless they're sure they're going to use them.
