canon 50mm mk1 vs mk2

im looking at buying a 50mm lens how much better is the mk1 and is it worth the extra money some people are asking stupid money for them

It has a metal mount, and the little scale window, so quality is supposed to be a little better, but optically I don't think there's much difference (if any!)
