Netley Military Cemetery containing around 3600 graves from the 1860s onwards. Most are from the First World War and include a number of German prisoners. The associated Royal Victoria Military Hospital stretched for over a quarter of a mile along the shore of Southampton Water and was the world's longest building at the time:
