Nb I created the sky in Elements

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated.

I actually went to take some pictures of the Space Centre proper. I was hoping to do something a bit different to the 100s of shots on the internet eg:

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=national space centre images&rlz=1T4GGLR_enGB451GB451&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=EjSUVMHyPJPKaIihgZgM&ved=0CAgQ_AUoAQ&biw=1366&bih=615

But not yet sure if I have got anything.

Problem is that it is such an unusual building that if you get in close people won't know what it is; and if you stand back then you get something the same as everybody else.

I suppose that is the challenge:)

......................... Crop looks a litre tight at the top, but apart from that its looking good.

Useful comment - I think it is ok as it is but if I printed it off and mounted it (oo errr Mrs) then I think a bit more space at the top would be a good idea.

As I created the sky it would be relatively simple to increase canvas size and extend the existing sky eg by stretching it a bit, or by putting in a totally new one

I like that Chris. Good processing and I can see the JT influence.

Thanks for the comments - much appreciated.

This 'architectural detail' shot was bit of a change from the more usual 'looking up at the whole building' type I have been doing. And whilst I wouldn't say that I have cracked it I now want to try some other ideas I got as result of reading 'From Basics ...'.

Chris, I am starting to get envious that is a very interesting image and well conceived. Abstract ideas are well worth pursuing, why should the image you produce be recognisable as part of a structure?

Thanks for the further comment.

Just to clarify ....

.. I agree it needn't be a recognisable part of a building - it is simply that in trying to apply the processing method in 'From Basics...' (which again to emphasise - that isn't the most important part of the book) I have been mainly doing upward looking shots of modern building facades eg

http://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/t201079

http://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/t201073

http://bthedigitalmonochromeforum.runboard.com/t201065

(if you follow some of these then also skim through the thread as some have a later version and one has the original colour version)

and it is becoming a bit formulaic so it was a pleasant change to do a more detailed shot.

And I tend to post most of my B&W images (which is mainly what I do at the moment) on the B&W forum because it is specialises on B&W (no surprise there then:)). But I also like to post on TP (and Elements Village) because I get a lot of good advice on them too.

EDIT - for a review of 'From Basics ...' see:
