Cokin P-series on a wide angle

Hi all

I just got a Cokin P series filter holder, ideally to use on my 10-22.

I have ready that i may run into problems with vignetting at the wider focal lengths.

My question is, can the front two filter slots be cut away to remove this vignetting, or is even that not enough to make the holder slim enough?

you can buy a generic slim adapter off ebay
you might be able to rotate the holder so the holdery bits are top and bottom, and less likely to be in the shot
