Convex Lenses

Hi all came across this earlier - https://www.samhurdphotography.com/2014/technique/photography-techniques-lens-chimping the guy uses this http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008FRFZ0U/ref=wms_ohs_product?ie=UTF8&psc=1 but can't find anyone selling one in the UK don't suppose anyone knows where I could get one from?

Try asking a school's science department. Someone there should be able to tell you where they get them from.

They very probably are the same.
You should be able to get hand held magnifiers from Amazon or similar for a few £'s , I would suggest a lens diameter of around 65mm they will be made of "Window" glass (as apposed to optical) but that will probably help achieve the effect.

There's another set on Amazon USA too. Look further down the screen in the "Customers who viewed this item also viewed" section. In stock too. Only 50mm dia though.

wonder if its the lack of frame that gives the effect? as surely a macro lens would do the same?
those +x diapoter ones that are cheap on ebay
